Book Award online events 2021
15 Novembre 2020
Due to the continuing Covid-19 emergency, the Steering Committee of The Bridge book award is considering to organize two online events in the coming months.
The first event will be the online version of the award ceremony for the two 2019 Italian winners, Romana Petri (fiction) and Massimo Castoldi (non-fiction). The in-person ceremony was in fact suspended due to the pandemic, whereas the two American winners, Maaza Mengiste and Pamela O.Long, have been already awarded last December 2019 with a ceremony at the American Academy headquarters in Rome.
A second online initiative will be organized to announce all the American and Italian candidates of the new VI edition 2021. The Steering Committee, in fact, has started to select the 20 books for the 2021 edition (10 American books, 5 of fiction and 5 of non-fiction, and 10 Italian books, 5 of fiction and 5 of non-fiction). The selection will be completed by March 31, 2021. From this date on, the online event will be set for the official announcement of the candidates.
We are proud to announce that the work for the translations of the 2019 winning books is proceeding as scheduled.
In particular:
ROMANA PETRI Pranzi di famiglia (Neri Pozza) is in translation by Sharon Wood (American publisher to be confirmed for publication)
MASSIMO CASTOLDI, Insegnare Liberta’, (Donzelli) is in translation by Gail Ann Mc Dowell (American publisher to be confirmed for publication)
