The Multipli Forti Festival is an initiative of the Italian Cultural Institute, under the direction of Fabio Finotti and curated by Maria Ida Gaeta. It aims to promote Italian literature to both the reading public and the international publishing world, serving as a transatlantic window into the significant literary trends of Italian fiction, as narrated by the authors who have shaped and continue to shape it.

The successful first two editions in 2022 and 2023 featured the participation of esteemed figures alongside emerging voices in our literary landscape: Edoardo Albinati, Jonathan Bazzi, Teresa Ciabatti, Donatella Di Pietrantonio, Claudia Durastanti, Ubah Cristina Alì Farah, Arianna Farinelli, Marcello Fois, Antonio Franchini, Fumettibrutti, Djarah Kan, Jumpa Lahiri, Ginevra Lamberti, Vincenzo Latronico, Antonella Lattanzi, Carlo Lucarelli,  Lorenza Pieri,  Valerio Magrelli, Melania Mazzucco, Michela Murgia, Francesco Pacifico, Valeria Parrella, Elisabetta Rasy,  Enrico Rotelli, Paolo Rumiz, Walter Siti,  Chiara Tagliaferri, Nadia Terranova, Chiara Valerio, Giorgio Vasta, Sandro Veronesi, Simona Vinci.

A conversation with Annalena Benini, director of Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino  

 

Making its debut appearance in New York, the Turin International Book Fair takes center stage at the Festival’s professional gathering, shedding light on the dissemination and promotion of contemporary Italian fiction within English-speaking markets. The newly appointed Director reveals the program for the forthcoming edition of Italy’s largest public-facing fair.

Round-table 

From Italy to the world and back. Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino presents its international professional programs.

 

Among the Turin Book Fair’s countless events and initiatives, several have very clear international aspirations. They include the Rights Centre, a publishing rights trade market with an exciting fellowship program of its own, as well as l’Autore Invisibile and Dall’Italiano al Mondo, two pioneering programs curated by Ilide Carmignani and involving translators worldwide. 

Director Annalena Benini and Rights Centre coordinator Lorenza Honorati will illustrate the projects at the round-table chaired by Luca Briasco and followed by a Q&A with the present publishers, editors, translators and journalists.

The American premiere of the first two episodes of the television series on “La Storia” by Elsa Morante, produced by Rai Fiction and Picomedia.

The screening will be preceded by an introduction by screenwriter Giulia Calenda and by a short talk by Ann Goldstein and Jenny McPhee, current translators of Elsa Morante’s books in America.
