Chiara Valerio (Scauri,1978) is an Italian writer, translator, editorial curator, artistic director and radio host. She received her PhD in Mathematics. She has written novels, short stories, literary criticism and theatre. She collaborates with the most important Italian newspaper and magazines such as La Repubblica, L'Espresso, and Vanity Fair. With Fabiana Carobolante and Jacopo de Bertoldi, Chiara Valerio is curator of Ad alta Voce, an Italian radio broadcast on Radio3, and hosts the program L'isola deserta every Saturday morning.
For the publishing house Nottetempo, she has translated and edited Flush, Freshwater and Tra un atto e l'altro by Virginia Woolf, also Ti basta l’Atlantico? (letters between Virginia Woolf and Lytton Stratche in collaboration of Alessandro Giammei). Her books and short stories are translated in several countries. She is currently editor in charge of Italian fiction for Marsilio publishing house.
With her latest novel Cosi Per Semper, Einaudi Chiara Valerio wins The Bridge Book Award 2022 for the Italian Fiction category.
